Dating App Fraud: Cases of online fraud are increasing continuously in India. Every day such cases are coming to light, where scammers try to rob people in different ways and to some extent they are successful too. The scariest thing is that many times scammers not only rob people, but also threaten and intimidate them. And take advantage of their weaknesses. A similar case has just come to light, where an engineer from Visakhapatnam found a fake girlfriend on a dating app, and he lost Rs 28 lakh by getting trapped in her trap.
According to a Times of India report, the engineer has lodged a complaint with the Visakhapatnam police about the theft of Rs 28 lakh. After investigation, the police have identified 25-year-old Kommagoni Lokesh, a resident of Narketpalli in Telangana’s Nalgonda district, in this case. Lokesh used to prey on people through three online dating apps and was part of a gang of three people. The police are seriously investigating the matter and identifying the accused.
Police made a big disclosure
The police said that the fraudsters had created fake accounts on several dating apps. Fake pictures of beautiful women were put on these apps so that people would contact them. After that, if someone contacted them, the fraudster would talk to them from his heart and try to connect emotionally.
How did such a big scam happen
In fact, while talking to the scammer, the engineer fell in love with him and got trapped in his trap. After that, he was gradually lured into transferring Rs 28 lakh. After receiving the money, the fraudsters shared the personal information of the person and also started blackmailing him using the objectionable pictures sent by him.
Never share your personal information, photos or financial information with someone you meet on a dating platform. Do not share any details unless you are completely sure that he/she is real.
