Metro Card Fraud: These days, Near Field Communication technology i.e. NFC is being used in most metro cards. With the help of this technology, payment can be made without touching the card. But cyber thugs have now started taking wrong advantage of this technology. These thugs push you out of the line and take your card to a special device kept with them. After this, this device copies all the information of your card. After this, according to the copied information, the thugs make a fake card and withdraw all the money. If you also keep a metro card with you, then you need to be careful.
What is the solution to avoid this?
When you are traveling in the metro, always keep the card in a safe place. Also, avoid giving the card (Metro Card) to any stranger. If you are not using the card, keep it safely in your pocket or purse. If your card supports NFC function and you are not using it, then get it blocked. In case of fraud, immediately inform the Metro helpline.
What to do if this happens to you?
If your card has been cloned, contact the metro helpline immediately and also check your bank account. You can complain about this to the police. In such a situation, get the card blocked immediately. You can also keep such apps in your phone which will keep an eye on your card’s activity. If your card is smart, then set a strong PIN. Also, avoid standing in the queue at the metro station when there is a lot of crowd.
