Tech company Microsoft has announced a new division to create AI apps and tools for third-party customers. It has been named ‘Core AI – Platforms and Tools’ and its command has been handed over to Jai Parikh of Indian origin. Parikh has previously been the CEO of cyber security startup Lacework and global head of engineering at Meta. Describing the vision of the new team, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that this year the company is entering a new innings of an AI platform shift.
Nadella said – 30 years’ worth of change in 3 years
Nadella said that this change will affect all application categories. He said that now as much change is going to happen in 3 years as it did in 30 years. Let us tell you that about 10 months ago, Microsoft had hired DeepMind co-founder Mustafa Suleman to lead the Copilot AI campaign. Now Parikh will also work together with Suleman in the company.
Parikh came to Microsoft in October
Parikh joined Microsoft as Executive Vice President in October last year and reports directly to Nadella. He is part of the company’s senior leadership team. In Parikh’s new role, several Microsoft executives will report directly to him. These include AI platform head Eric Boyd, AI infrastructure deputy CTO Jason Taylor, Microsoft developer division head Julia Liuson etc.
How has been Parikh’s career?
Parikh joined Facebook in 2009. During this period, he has worked on the company’s technical infrastructure and data center projects. Before leaving the company, he had become the head of engineering here. He has also worked on many important projects including Meta’s Aquila drone project. He has also been the CEO of Lacework. He completed his studies from Virginia Technical University.
