Kailash Kumar: The magic of social media creates new stories every day, and sometimes it even becomes an extraordinary example of humanity. The story of Shobha Devi, a resident of Kathara Dam Colony of Gomiya block of Bokaro district of Jharkhand, is similar. Shobha Devi, who was separated from her family 18 years ago, was recently able to meet her mother and family with the help of social media.
How did the painful process of separation happen?
Shobha Devi had gone to Delhi with her husband 18 years ago in search of work. But unfortunately, she got separated from her husband and the rest of the family in Delhi itself. Due to being mentally disabled, she wandered to Haridwar, where she lived a struggling life with her one year old son. In these 18 years, Shobha and her son Krishna faced a lot of difficulties. Krishna told that he used to collect coins thrown by devotees in the Ganga in Haridwar and with the same money he used to satisfy his hunger by eating food in the langar.
Amazing contribution of social media
Recently, Narayan Sharma, a social worker from Haridwar, shared a video on Facebook and YouTube to help Shobha. This video went viral and on 28 December 2024, Shobha’s cousin sister saw it. He immediately informed the family. Shobha’s family took immediate action. His uncle Kuldeep and other family members traced the location of the video with the help of the police. They reached Haridwar and from there brought Shobha and her son Krishna back to Bokaro.
The magic of happiness hidden in mother’s tears
Shobha’s mother, Lalki Devi, said that she is very happy to find her daughter after so many years. The wait of so many years has ended today. He told that both Shobha and her husband are mentally disabled, due to which the family had to face many difficulties in finding them.
