Army Officer Attacked In Kerala: A case of beating of an army officer has come to light in the NCC camp organized at KMM College of Arts and Science, Thrikkakara, Kerala. This incident took place on the night of 23 December, when more than 80 cadets were admitted to the hospital due to food poisoning. After this, political workers and their supporters allegedly attacked the camp.
More than 80 cadets present in the camp complained of vomiting and diarrhea after having food. After which food poisoning was held responsible for the health problem. To test food poisoning, the Kerala Health Department has sent samples of food, water and stalls of sick patients from the NCC camp to the lab. However, the investigation report has not come yet.
Mob attacked NCC camp
Bhagya Lakshmi, district chief of CPI(M)’s student wing SFI, and local BJP councilor Pramod and their supporters reportedly led the mob. The mob vandalized the camp, not only this, an army officer on duty was also attacked. A video of the incident is viral on social media, in which the army officer maintained his composure despite the attacks on him and did not take any retaliatory action.

NCC allegation
NCC officials said that despite clear evidence in medical reports and video footage, the local police delayed arresting the attackers. Camp Commandant Lt. Col. Karnail Singh expressed disappointment over the police negligence, saying that this inaction of the police was an indictment of the NCC sailors. And raises serious concerns about the safety of officers.

Police said that two accused have been arrested for attacking a senior NCC officer. Information about the attackers has been sought from the camp authorities for further action in the case. At present the matter is being investigated.
