Eight small carts are set up daily to sell moong dal mangoda. About 2 quintals of moong dal are used every day. Apart from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, people from different parts of the country reach Udi in Etawah district to taste this dish. The method of making moong dal mangoda is also interesting. This is the reason why it tastes so wonderful. To make mangoda, half-ground whole lentils are used along with unpeeled and unchopped garlic, ginger and coriander. Pure mustard oil is used to cook mangoda in a pan. Along with this, a chutney is made which people eat with great relish. Man Singh, a resident of Udi village, started making moong dal mangoda about 65 years ago. This business, which started from a cart, has now become a source of income for eight members of his family.

People are crazy about Mangode of Udi village

Abhishek Singh, grandson of Mansingh, who started the business of Mangoda of whole moong dal, said that his grandfather started making this dish about 65 years ago. After having a big family, it is now divided among 8 people. Garlic, pure mustard oil is used along with pure moong dal to make Mangoda. Due to its wonderful and excellent taste, people come here to eat Mangoda. Sangeeta Bhadoria, a resident of Bhind in Madhya Pradesh, said that Udi’s Mangoda is very much liked, so people come here to taste Mangoda. Dev Kumari, who came with Sangeeta, is also a fan of Mangoda made in Udi. Gajendra Singh Parihar, a resident of Etawah, said that people keep coming from morning till evening to eat the delicious Mangoda of Udi, located at a distance of about ten kilometers from the district headquarters.
