Even in the year 2024, the big companies of the industry are continuing layoffs on a large scale. Now most of the companies are sending people home through silent layoffs. By the end of July this year, about 1 lakh people have lost their jobs. In July itself, 34 tech companies have fired about 8000 people. Big companies like Intel and Microsoft have also continued the process of taking away jobs.
Intel announced the layoff of 15,000 people
According to the Times of India report, in the year 2024, 124,517 employees have been fired from 384 companies across the world. Intel recently announced the firing of more than 15 thousand employees. The company will cut its workforce by 15 percent as part of its plan to save $ 10 billion. The company’s revenue has decreased drastically. They have also stopped dividends. On the other hand, Microsoft has also fired about 1000 people in the last 2 months. However, the company is not confirming this.
Layoffs are being done in many companies of the world
Apart from this, software company UKG has fired about 2200 employees. California’s financial management software company Intuit has also reduced its staff by 10 percent and sent about 1800 people home. British company Dyson has also announced the layoff of 1000 people citing increasing competition and restructuring. The company has 15 thousand employees worldwide. On the other hand, Russian cyber security company Kaspersky has decided to shut down its operations after being banned in the US.

Apart from this, many companies in India have also done layoffs for various reasons. Among them, Bengaluru-based startup ReshaMandi has laid off 80 percent of its employees. X’s rival microblogging platform Koo has also shut down its operations in India. Unacademy has laid off 250 employees, WayCool has laid off 200, PocketFM has laid off 200, Bungie has laid off 220 and Humble Games has laid off all its employees.
