After marriage, she started her acting career with the Bengali film Balika Vadhu and at the age of 18, she also became the mother of a daughter. In the year 1972, Moushumi entered Bollywood with the film Anurag. After this film, Moushumi’s career in Bollywood started.
Once during the shooting of a film, when Moushumi was pregnant, an accident happened to her. The actress herself had revealed about this in an interview. Moushumi had told that she was pregnant during the shooting of the film Roti Kapda Aur Makaan.
Chatterjee had told that her role in the film was that of a rape survivor Tulsi and she had a serious accident during the shooting of the rape scene in the film.
According to media reports, a lot of flour had fallen on the actress and due to this she fell down. She started bleeding although she had not had a miscarriage. Later she gave birth to a daughter.
