Mukhtar was born in a freedom fighter family. He was good at studies in his childhood. He was very fond of cricket. His father Subhanullah Ansari was also a cricket player. Mukhtar contested the 1996 elections from Mau seat on BSP ticket and became MLA. In 1997, Mukhtar’s name came up in the murder of Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s national treasurer Nand Kishore Rungta. After this Mayawati expelled Mukhtar from the party.
Maintained political influence
After this, Mukhtar won from Mau in 1996, 2002, 2007, 2012 and 2017. He contested 3 of these elections from jail. Mukhtar from Varanasi on BSP ticket in 2009 Lok Sabha Elections Fought, but he lost against Murli Manohar Joshi by 17 thousand votes. After this Mayawati showed Mukhtar the way out. After this, Mukhtar along with his brother formed Quami Ekta Dal.
