Mumbai Many people wish to see the moon, sun and stars up close through a telescope. But the telescopes required for this are so expensive that common people cannot buy them. This wish has been realized by a young man from Mumbai. He fulfilled this desire by making his own telescope. This special report of Local18 presents the story of that youth.
Was interested in telescope since childhood
The name of this promising young man is Prathamesh Surve. Since childhood, he was fond of observing and studying the moon and stars closely through a telescope. But due to the high price of the telescope, it was not easy for him to buy it. In such a situation, Prathamesh decided to make a telescope himself. He gathered information about the construction of the telescope and collected all the materials required for it.
Success achieved after one year of hard work
After gathering the materials, Prathamesh worked hard for a year and finally succeeded in making a small telescope. Inspired by this success, he also prepared a bigger telescope. The most important thing in making a telescope is the correct balance of its lens. Prathamesh got the lenses specially prepared as per his requirements. Along with this, while making a telescope, it is also very important to keep in mind the correct distance in the PVC pipe, which is called ‘focal length’. This distance and calculation had to be absolutely precise, and Prathamesh succeeded in this too.
Importance of lens and telescope
The most important part in the construction of a telescope is its lens. Prathamesh first got the lenses prepared, then prepared the entire telescope body from PVC pipes. Additionally, double lenses were used inside the PVC pipe, which were properly attached with double tape. If there is even a slight mistake in this, the moon and stars are not visible properly. Keeping all these things in mind, Prathamesh built an excellent telescope.
Big achievement in low budget
The total cost of making this telescope of Prathamesh was about three and a half thousand rupees. The price of the telescope available in the market is more than Rs 20 thousand, but Prathamesh prepared this telescope for only Rs 3500. This telescope not only fulfills his wishes but is also a source of inspiration for other people.
