Because growing this crop does not require much irrigation.
Mustard crop can be grown easily at low cost. Apart from this, cultivation of early mustard starts as soon as Rabi season arrives. Sowing of early mustard variety is done from the beginning till the second fortnight of the month of October. In such a situation, farmers can get good profits by adopting any one of the five famous varieties of mustard.
RH 725 Variety: This variety of mustard is ripe in 136 to 143 days. Its pods are long and the number of grains in the pods ranges from 17 to 18.
Pusa Bold Variety: This variety is grown mostly in the areas of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi and Maharashtra. Its crop becomes ready for harvesting in about 150 days. The production capacity of this variety is 18 to 20 quintals per hectare.
Raj Vijay Mustard-2: This variety of mustard is useful for the areas of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The crop is ready in 120 to 130 days. According to reports, sowing of this variety in October gives a yield of 20 to 25 quintals per hectare.
RH30 variety: This variety of mustard is best for Haryana, Punjab, Western Rajasthan regions. This variety is very useful for irrigated and non-irrigated areas. This variety takes 130 to 135 days to ripen. If this variety is sown from 15 to 20 October, the yield can be 16 to 20 quintals per hectare. The amount of oil in it is about 39 percent.
RH-761 variety: This variety of mustard does not require much irrigation. Apart from this, it is tolerant towards frost. This variety produces 25-27 quintals per hectare. Flowers start appearing in it in 45 to 55 days. It takes 136 to 145 days for the crop to be ready.
