A person attempted self immolation during the public hearing of DM held in Muzaffarpur Collectorate premises. The person set himself on fire by sprinkling petrol on himself. The injured was immediately admitted to Sadar Hospital. From here he was referred to SKMCH in critical condition. After getting information about the incident, many top police and district officials reached the spot.
Eyewitnesses said that the man had arrived with a bag in his hand. The injured man has been identified as Binda Lal Rai, around 48 years old, of Kanti police station area.
The victim Bindalal had come to discuss a land dispute. Bindalal is a resident of Kanti police station area. Just before the gate, he took out petrol from his bag and set himself on fire. After which, there was chaos at the spot. People present there immediately admitted him to the district Sadar Hospital. After getting information about the case, many top officials including ASP Town Bhanu Pratap Singh and officials of the DM office reached the spot and took information. Meanwhile, health department officials are treating him at the Sadar Hospital.
Superintendent Sadar Hospital Dr. B S Jha, who was present on the spot, said that a patient has been brought. About 40 percent of his body is burnt. He is being sent to SKMCH Medical College. His condition is said to be critical.
ASP Town Bhanu Pratap Singh, who reached the spot after receiving the information, said that a person has set himself on fire in the Collectorate premises. The matter is being investigated.
