The Ganga servants of Kashi were felicitated on Monday, December 19, on the occasion of the national meeting of Namami Gange (Ganga Vichar Manch), a voluntary organization of the National Mission for Clean Ganga, organized by the Central Water Commission, New Delhi. Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat highly appreciated the work of Ganga Sevaks of Kashi. The Union Minister honored Shivdutt Dwivedi, Bina Gupta, Pushpalata Verma and Priyanka Singh, describing the Ganga service of Namami Gange (Ganga Vichar Manch) state convenor Rajesh Shukla as exemplary and in national interest. Before the honor, in the national meeting of Ganga Vichar Manch, representatives from 5 states of Ganga flow (Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal) presented their views for cleaning Ganga under the leadership of National Convener Dr. Bharat Pathak.

Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that no civilization can expand without rivers and river Ganga is a symbol of India’s cultural heritage which binds the nation together. Indian civilization is incomplete without Mother Ganga. Said that from Uttarakhand to West Bengal, the volunteers of Ganga Vichar Manch are doing excellent service for Ganga. Director General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga, Shri G. Ashok Kumar said that through the Namami Gange project, we are progressively increasing the work of cleaning the Ganges. Our target is to plug all the sewage drains falling in the Ganga basin area. State convenor of Namami Gange (Ganga Vichar Manch) Rajesh Shukla said that Ganga is the country’s natural wealth and the basis of people’s emotional faith and our livelihood. Beneficial Ganga has given us life like mother for India, now it is our turn to give life to Ganga. Along with the government, the concern of all of us towards Ganga has to be understood and fulfilled honestly.
