Narasimha Jayanti 2024 Date
Narasimha Jayanti is on 21 May 2024. On this day, Lord Vishnu incarnated as half human and half lion, protected religion and destroyed the demon king Hiranyakashyap.
Story of Narasimha Jayanti (Narasimha Jayanti Katha)
In Satyayuga there was a very cruel demon named Hiranyakashipu. Through rigorous penance, he had obtained a boon from Lord Brahma that neither man nor animal could kill him, neither during the day nor at night, neither inside nor outside the house, nor with any weapon. He can be killed with a weapon. After receiving the boon, he became arrogant and started considering himself as God. His atrocities on people increased. Everyone in the three worlds became troubled by him.
Prahlad was tortured like this
Hiranyakashipu wanted people to worship him and not Lord Vishnu. Prahalad, son of demon king Hiranyakashipu, was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. He made many attempts to stop Prahlad from worshiping Lord Vishnu, tried to throw him from the ditch, made him throw him in a cauldron of boiling oil, made him sit in the burning fire along with his sister Holika, but every time Lord Vishnu saved Prahlad.
This is how Lord Narasimha killed Hiranyakashipu
After this Hiranyakashipu lost interest in anger. He himself started torturing Prahlad, then Lord Vishnu appeared after tearing a pillar. Everyone became frightened after seeing his terrible appearance. In the evening, Lord Vishnu took Hiranyakashipu to the threshold of the house and lifted him in his lap and tore the chest of Hiranyakashipu with his nails. In this way the unrighteous Hiranyakashipu was born. That is why it is said that if worship of God is done with a true heart, then He himself comes to earth in some form or the other to protect the seeker.
