The Indian flag has been changed six times so far

Officially, the flag of India was first hoisted in Kolkata in 1906. The flag that India got in 1906 was completely different from today’s flag. The three colours in that flag were green, yellow and red. It also had a lotus flower and the moon and the sun. Vande Mataram was written in the middle of the flag. Exactly 1 year later, in 1907, the second flag came. It was hoisted in Paris by Madam Bhikaji Cama and some of her revolutionary friends. This flag had saffron colour instead of red and 8 stars instead of 8 lotus flowers.

After this, in the year 1917, Annie Besant along with Lokmanya Tilak hoisted the flag, this flag was quite different. This flag had five red and four green stripes. There was a Union Jack on the left side. Moon and stars were also included in it. After this, in the year 1921, the flag of India was changed again. In the Vijayawada meeting of the All India Congress Committee, someone gave this flag to Mahatma Gandhi. He made some changes in it and added a stripe. Along with this, he also added a spinning wheel to it.

After this, the flag of India changed once again in the year 1931. This flag is somewhat similar to today’s flag. This flag had saffron colour at the top, white in the middle and green at the end. A spinning wheel was made in the middle of the white stripe. The Indian Congress officially adopted it. The Indian flag was changed for the last time in July 1947 by changing this flag and that flag is still in use. This flag had saffron colour at the top, white in the middle and green at the bottom. The Ashok Chakra replaced the spinning wheel. This flag was designed by Pingali Venkaiah.

Green colour for Muslims and Red colour for Hindus

In the year 1921, when a person gave a flag to Mahatma Gandhi in the Vijayawada meeting of the Congress Committee, then the flag had only two colors, one green and one red. Green color was the symbol of Muslims. While the red color was the symbol of Hindus. That is why Mahatma Gandhi added white color to it as a symbol of all the other religions and people of India. Only then it had three colors. Which are also present in today’s tricolor.
