In the notice sent to the Bihar government, it has been said that taking cognizance of the delay in investigating the case of rape of the girl, a detailed report has been sought. The notice sent states that a 13-year-old girl was raped in Bajitpur of Darbhanga district. The girl died 16 days after the incident. Regarding this matter, the Panchayat and the victim’s family had tried to resolve the matter, but the police have not yet taken any appropriate action in this matter, nor are the police aware that the victim’s parents and the Gram Panchayat. The letter issued by the commission said that after allegedly receiving an amount of Rs 1.25 lakh, the victim’s family sent her to the accused’s house saying that now no one would marry her. Due to this, the victim stayed at the accused’s house for five days. After that he was thrown out by the family members of the accused.
After the accused threw the victim out of the house, his parents sent the victim to his elder sister’s house. Where he died 16 days after the incident i.e. on March 1. The victim was raped by Sunil Mahato on 19 March 2024. The incident occurred when she had gone to graze cattle. It is alleged that no medical examination of the victim was done after the rape. The police have taken out the victim’s body from the grave and sent it for post-mortem.
Asked for detailed report within six weeks
The Commission has found that the human rights of the victim girl have been violated. Under this, the Commission has issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of Bihar Government and the Director General of Police and sought a detailed report within six weeks. This report should also include the status of the investigation conducted in the case.
