Aligarh Legal Services Authority organized a Lok Adalat on 13th July. There was a fair like atmosphere in all the external courts including the civil court throughout the day. 81 thousand 768 cases were settled on the basis of compromise agreement.
While inaugurating the Lok Adalat by lighting a lamp in the Civil Court premises, Authority Chairman/District Judge Sanjeev Kumar said that disputes are settled in Lok Adalat through compromise agreement. This provides great relief to the litigants and also reduces the burden of cases. On this occasion, Presiding Officer of Motor Accident Claims Tribunal Jai Singh Pundir, Chief Justice Family Court Manoj Kumar Agarwal, all judicial officers, senior managers of the bank, President of Aligarh Bar Association and Civil Bar Association etc. were present.
According to District Legal Services Authority Secretary Nitin Srivastava, presiding officer Vivek Tripathi settled 24 cases in the commercial court and recovered an amount of Rs. 1 crore 51 lakh 82 thousand 701. Presiding officer Jai Singh Pundir settled 226 cases in the Motor Vehicle Accident Compensation Tribunal and declared an award of Rs. 7 crore 68 lakh 97 thousand 500 as compensation and gave it to the family members of the accident victims.
Family Court Judge Manoj Kumar Agarwal disposed of 89 family disputes and sent 17 couples together. Additional Chief Judge Lalita Gupta disposed of 20 disputes and sent five couples together, and 47 pre-litigation matrimonial disputes and sent ten couples together. Additional Chief Judge Nupur disposed of 31 family disputes and sent eight couples, and 34 pre-litigation matrimonial disputes and sent six couples together.
