Maharashtra Premier League 2023: For the first season of Maharashtra Premier League (MPL), the auction process of players was organized in Pune today. In this auction, there was a fierce competition among the franchisees to buy Maharashtra Ranji team player Naushad Sheikh. Kolhapur Tuskers made Naushad a part of their team for Rs 6 lakh. A total of 6 franchises are participating in the first season of the Maharashtra Premier League.

The names of these 6 franchises were announced by the Apex Committee of the Maharashtra Cricket Association. Puneri Bappa whose icon player is Ruturaj Gaikwad. The second team is Kolhapur Tuskers and its icon player is Kedar Jadhav. The third team is Eagle Nashik Titans and its icon player is Rahul Tripathi. On the other hand, the fourth team is Chhatrapati Sambhaji Kings and Rajvardhan Hungergekar has been selected as its icon player. At the same time, the 5th team is Ratnagiri Jets, whose icon player is Azim Qazi. The sixth team is Solapur Royals whose icon player is Vicky Ostawal.

Talking about 31-year-old Naushad Sheikh, he has now played 45 T20 matches in domestic cricket. Naushad has scored 942 runs in these at an average of 28.54. During this, his strike rate was 123.78 and he was able to play 5 half-century innings as well. Naushad is also an off-spin bowler and has so far taken 12 wickets in T20 cricket at an average of 18.58.

The first season of MPL will be played from June 15 to 29

The first season of Maharashtra Premier League will be organized from 15 to 29 June. All the matches of the first season will be organized at Gahunje Stadium. At the same time, 3 exhibition matches of women’s teams will also be organized in the middle of the season. For the first season of MPL, more than 300 players were included in the auction process. In this, 60 thousand rupees in the base price to the players playing Ranji. Under-19 and B group players were given a base price of Rs 40,000 while players included in C group were given a base price of Rs 20,000. All 6 franchises were given Rs 20 lakh purse money, in which they can include maximum 16 players in their team and it is mandatory to have 2 under-19 players.
