Recently, North Eastern state Tripura has announced a gift for the ration card holders of its state on the occasion of Navratri. These two things will be given free to all ration card holders this Navratri.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has made a big announcement for the ration card holders of his state. On the occasion of Navratri, he has announced to give 2 kg flour and 1 kg sugar as a gift to all the ration card holders of the state. Along with this, before the Durga Puja festival, the government will also give 500 grams of semolina free to all ration card holders. Food Department official said that earlier these things were given to ration card holders at concessional rates. But this time it will be given absolutely free.

Food, Civil Supplies Minister gave statement

Regarding this decision of the Tripura government, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushant Chaudhary has said in his statement that ‘We provide these commodities at concessional rates through the Public Distribution System (PDS) every year, but Not for free. This time, however, the government has taken this a special decision because people have suffered losses due to floods. Along with this, while talking further about this he said that ‘about 3000 metric tonnes of sugar has already arrived in the state and more is to come. Ration shops have started distributing sugar.

Old ration cards will be changed to PVC

Along with this, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushant Chaudhary said that all the old ration cards present in the state will soon be converted into PVC i.e. smart cards. Soon new cards will be issued to everyone.
