Plan to install road safety equipment to prevent accidents

New Delhi. NDMC developed India,Under its theme of 2047, New Delhi will make the roads of the area world class. She will arrange for various facilities on the roads as well as put up sign boards. At the same time, it has also prepared a plan to install road safety equipment to prevent road accidents. In this context, it has been decided to keep the roads pothole free.

NDMC will spend around Rs 150 crore next year to make the roads world class. Like abroad, modern kiosks, street furniture, parking facilities, electric poles and sitting plazas will be installed on the roads. It has already developed Minto Road as such smart road as a pilot project and will develop other roads as smart roads in the next year. NDMC has decided to field all concerned departments on the roads under the first One Day One Road initiative. To make this initiative successful, it will bring on the streets the employees of all the departments working related to roads. These workers will clean and wash trees, road and footpaths along a road every day. Apart from this, the footpaths will be painted. During this time they will also prune trees and plants on the roadside. NDMC says that it has 90 roads and will rejuvenate all the roads in three months. In this way she will take care of a road four times in a year. On the other hand it will install road safety equipment to improve people’s safety and prevent road accidents. At the same time, it will replace all road signage to achieve proper safety. A plan has also been prepared to install good quality boards to provide information about the roads to the drivers. The road signages were installed with Type Nine Reflective Sheets in the year 2009-10 and have completed their useful life. Now has revised specifications with Type XI reflective sheet. NDMC will construct a footover bridge near Gate No. 1 of AIIMS and Gate No. 5 at Delhi High Court for the convenience and safety of pedestrians.
