A big decision has been taken by the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The court has canceled the counseling process of NEET PG 2024. This decision has been taken due to irregularities in giving additional marks to the medical officers. The division bench headed by Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva has ordered the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to prepare a new state merit list.

The normalization process was adopted twice in the merit list prepared by the state government for NEET-PG 2024. Due to which the ranking of in-service candidates got disturbed. Many doctors filed a petition claiming that medical officers serving in rural areas were not given the benefit of additional marks. Advocate Aditya Sanghi, counsel for the petitioners, argued that the new list was prepared in violation of the rules, due to which the future of hundreds of candidates was in jeopardy.

High Court order
While canceling the merit list and counseling process, the High Court said that the list prepared without following the rules has violated transparency in the selection process. The court ordered that all in-service doctors be given full benefit of their additional marks in the new merit list. Only after that the counseling process should be started. The High Court also clarified that this decision has been taken only to ensure compliance with the rules.
Relief to affected doctors
This decision has brought relief to those doctors. Those who had served in rural areas for three years and did not get the benefit of additional marks. This decision of the High Court is expected to bring transparency and improvement in the medical counseling process.
