There are two types of cut-off

Before knowing about the cut-off of NEET UG 2024 exam, let us know that it is of two types. One is admission cut-off and the other is qualifying cut-off. Qualifying cut-off is the marks on the basis of which it is told that a candidate has passed the NEET exam. After this comes the admission cut-off which is required for admission in any institute, any course.

Then you get admission in your favorite college

Qualifying cut-off is enough to pass the NEET exam but admission cut-off is required if you want to get admission in your favorite course. Admission to the desired place is based on the total number of students, the highest marks and many other factors.

The counselling process is carried forward on the basis of the new cut-off criteria and it is released at both the national and state levels. The cut-off is different for different categories.

The cut-off for each category is different

If we talk about last year, then in the year 2023 the cut-off had increased slightly as compared to 2022. How it will be this time will be known only after the results are out but one can make a general guess as to how many marks will be required to pass for which category.

Last year’s NEET cut-off for the General category was 720-137. For OBC, SC and ST categories, it was 136-107. For General PH category, it was 136-121. For SC, ST, OBC – PH category, the cut-off went from 120 to 107. This year’s cut-off can be told only after the results are out.

Colleges depend on the rank

Just passing the NEET exam does not guarantee admission to the desired college or course. It depends on the All India Rank. This rank is released at both national and state level. The cut-off for admission in both government medical colleges and private medical colleges is different. Keep an eye on the website for latest updates.
