The uproar over NEET UG exam 2024 is not stopping. Even today there is a hearing in the Supreme Court regarding the cancellation of the exam. Whether the exam is cancelled or not will be clear in some time, but it has become clear that this year’s NEET candidates have had to travel a very difficult journey so far. This journey of NEET UG 2024 started in February and is going on till June. There is still no sign of it ending. Let’s know what has happened in this matter till date.

When and what happened

  • The notice for NEET UG exam was released on 9th February and registration started from the same day.
  • The last date to apply was 16 March 2024 and corrections in the application could be made between 18 to 20 March.
  • After a long gap, suddenly NEET registrations were opened again between 9th to 10th April (this is under question).
  • Corrections for this could have been made on 11th and 12th April.
  • City intimation slip was released on 24th April and admit card was released on 1st May 2024.
  • The exam was conducted on 5th May and the answer key was released on 29th May.
  • The paper was held on 5th May and on the same day voices started rising on the issue of paper leak from many states including Bihar and Rajasthan.
  • Objections on the answer key were sought till 31 May and the final answer key was released on 3 June.
  • The results were released on June 4 (the day of release of Lok Sabha results, this is also a big question), several days before its scheduled date (June 10).
  • On June 1, four days before the result was released, Shivangi Mishra and nine other candidates filed a petition, raising questions on the NEET paper leak and the sanctity of the exam.
  • Even before this, on May 5, the Supreme Court had sought answers from the NTA on all the questions raised by the students and refused to stop the counseling process.
  • NTA said that the exam will be conducted again only for those candidates who got 1563 grace marks.
  • On June 14, the top court issued a notice to the NTA and the Centre. The court issued the notice while hearing a petition alleging paper leak and demanding a CBI inquiry.
  • On June 18, the court said that even if 0.001 percent negligence is on the part of NTA, it will not be tolerated.
  • There will be a hearing again on July 8 on the case of cancellation of NEET exam.
  • The admit cards for the re-exam were released on 20 June and the exam will be held on 23 June.
  • Its results can be declared on 30th June and counselling will start from 6th July. There is no ban on this.
