You must have seen expensive marbles and heard about them. But a small piece of marble is going to be sold in Scotland for Rs 27 crore. You will be surprised to know that it was purchased for just 6 dollars i.e. 500 rupees and for years it was used as a door step to block the door in a park. But there is one reason due to which its price increased millions of times.

According to CNN’s report, this is a small marble statue, which was taken out from a house. Invergordon Town Council purchased it in 1930. Later it was used as a door step in a park. Later it was revealed that it was created by French sculptor Adam Bouchardon in the beginning of the 18th century. The statue is of the then famous landowner and politician John Gordon.

How did you know?
After this the litigation started, in which the court has now approved the sale. A Scottish Highlands Council spokeswoman told CNN that its price in the auction could be more than $3.2 million i.e. Rs 27 crore. This came to light when a foreign buyer contacted auction house Sotheby’s and offered more than 2.5 million pounds for it. When the officers realized its value, they hid it. But now preparations are being made to sell it.

A similar case came to light in 2018. When a rock was found at Central Michigan University, which was being used as a door step, considering it to be a piece of ordinary stone. No one knew about it for decades, but later it was found out that it is a special meteorite, which falls once in decades. After this, it was sold for $75,000 i.e. approximately Rs 60 lakh.
