Telecasted in 1988, ‘Mahabharat’ was directed by BR Chopra and his son Ravi Chopra. The show had become quite popular. All the stars played their characters so well that it connected well with the audience. Many people even started calling him the real Arjuna, Draupadi and Duryodhana. Lots of love was given to all the episodes, except for one and that was Draupadi’s Cheerharan.
Puneet Issar was arrested on
The scene of Draupadi being ripped apart shocked people. People were most angry on Duryodhan, who was played by Puneet Issar. The matter increased so much that a person issued a non-bailable warrant against him in Varanasi. In an interview, Puneet spoke openly about that incident. Puneet had said, “When I was leaving after finishing the shooting of Mahabharata, the police arrested me and told me that someone has filed a case against me in the court and a warrant has also been issued. I got upset and I could not understand.
Puneet further said, “I asked the police what have I done? Then the police said that they have disrobed Draupadi, because of this a person in Varanasi is sad. I was in shock. I said that if you want to catch then catch Ved Vyas (author of Mahabharata). BR Chopra and Ravi Chopra finally settled the matter.”
Only because of this the case was re-opened after 28 years
Puneet felt that he had breathed a sigh of relief, but the difficulties increased when the case was re-opened again after 28 years. Then he went to Varanasi in connection with the case and got a startling information. They came to know that the man had got the case re-opened just to get the photo clicked with them.
