Your car is running in Bihar or somewhere in the country and notice comes on the address mentioned in the Registration Certificate (RC) – “Your vehicle has been seized during liquor smuggling at such and such place on such and such date.” What would you do? Nothing will be understood immediately, as the excise department will go ahead with the auction process after sending one or two notices. This fear is troubling Pranav Rai, a resident of Baghwa of Simri Bakhtiyarpur police station area of Saharsa district. Pranav Rai told the Police and the Prohibition Department on the very first notice that his car was with him, but once again the notice came. Pranav Rai, who runs computer coaching in Kahra block road of the district headquarters, has appealed to the Chief Minister after receiving a second notice from the office of Excise Court Senior Deputy Collector, Patna, under the vehicle confiscation case.

don’t look fakeso make number plate
The number should not be caught fake at first sight, so the liquor smugglers had put the number plate of the vehicle of the same company. Patna police kept the vehicle seized in liquor smuggling on May 30 in Bihta police station and extracted the record of RC. The make was matched with the vehicle number on record (BR 19 P 0817) and the notice was sent to the address given in the RC. Meanwhile, it is not noticed that the color of the original vehicle is white, while the color of the car with the seized fake number plate is brown. When the notice was received for the first time, Pranav Rai sent an application to the Prohibition Department and others on September 29 pleading for justice. Ignoring Pranav’s application, a notice was sent again from the date of 10 November 2022, which has now been received. After receiving the notice again, the victim Pranav, along with the officials of the excise department and the police, appealed for justice by giving an application to the Chief Minister.

If there is no benefit from the complaint, then a case should be filed.

According to Patna High Court advocate Umakant Tiwari, if the Police or Excise Department has sent a notice in this way to the original vehicle owner only on the basis of the number plate, then the original vehicle owner can file a case on the basis of harassment. The chassis number, colour, make and model should match before sending any notice. In this, notice has been sent after seeing the make and number plate. This is almost certainly false. Secondly, even the process of auctioning the vehicle cannot proceed on the basis of fake number plates. Even if someone tries to take this vehicle, he will not find its record on the server of the Transport Department. In such a situation, if the vehicle owner does not get benefit from the complaint, then a case should be filed.
