Children will learn oral care tips before going to school. A policy will be made for this at the national level. To formulate this policy, the Center for Dental Education and Research (CDER) of AIIMS has submitted a proposal to the Central Government.

Actually, Oral Health in India conference was organized at AIIMS on Sunday. Apart from dental experts, Special Secretary of the Health Department, members of NITI Aayog and others participated in it. In the conference, a proposal was prepared to make children aged 0 to 5 years aware about oral health.

CDER chief Dr. Ritu Duggal said that doctors of Gynecology and Obstetrics and Pediatrics departments will also be included in the proposal. Gynecologists during pregnancy and doctors of pediatrics department after birth will create awareness about diseases related to mouth. We will also tell you how these can be stopped. Having this habit since childhood will reduce problems in future.

Dr. Vijay Prakash Mathur said that due to changes in the eating habits of children, oral diseases are increasing. Children eat sticky food instead of fiber rich food. It increases mouth related diseases. The problem has increased rapidly in children in the last few years. Apart from this, problems increased in children due to brushing time, diet and other reasons.

Oral diseases are increasing

Oral diseases are increasing rapidly in the country. Doctors told in the conference that oral cancer, crooked teeth, broken teeth, gum disease, missing teeth in old age and other diseases have increased in patients of all ages. Facilities have to be expanded to provide them proper treatment.

Research will be encouraged

Dr. Ritu Duggal said that a decision has been taken to promote research in the conference. With its help, focus will be on developing indigenous facilities with better options for the treatment of the disease. It was also decided that special attention should be given to prevention of diseases rather than treatment of patients.

Survey will be conducted across the country

A survey is being conducted across the country to detect oral diseases. CDER will conduct door-to-door testing of more than 10 lakh people in all the states, metropolitan cities and union territories of the country. During the examination, oral cancer, crooked teeth, broken teeth, tooth decay, and other oral diseases will be seen in people of all ages. The survey will last for about a year. After the survey, an accurate assessment will be made and a strategy will be made to deal with the diseases. Earlier, a similar survey was conducted in the year 2014, although the sample size in the survey was small.

Mobile van will reach every village

Mobile vans will reach every village to detect oral diseases. Currently, mobile vans with dental facilities are available in some states of the country. NITI Aayog member VK Paul has advised doctors to make a policy to provide mobile van facilities to every village. All first aid facilities including mouth check-up will be available in this van.
