Mathura: Nowadays we all like to include protein-rich food in our diet, but do we know whether the protein-rich food we are eating is real or fake? Especially it can be difficult to find out whether the mawa (khoya) used in sweets is real or fake. But now the Food Department of Mathura has found a solution to this problem. With the help of a special chemical, you can identify whether the mawa is real or fake in just 15 minutes.
The high-tech testing van being used by the Food Department of Mathura can check the purity of food items such as sweets, mawa, lentils, rice, milk and curd in just a few minutes. Department employee Vedant Saraswat told Local18 that this van is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, which can test food items in a few minutes.
Iodine tincture: Identify real and fake in 4 drops
Vedant told that a simple chemical is used to check the purity of food items, whose name is iodine tincture. Put 4 drops of this chemical on the sample of mawa and add a little mineral water in the test tube. If the mawa changes color to purple, then it is considered genuine. But if the drops of iodine turn the mawa black, then this mawa is completely fake.
Danger of fake mawa
Nowadays, fake mawa is being used in sweets and other food items in the market, which is not only harmful for health but can also cause serious diseases. Therefore, it has become very important to check sweets and mawa at home or with the help of the food department. Now you can easily ensure whether what you are eating is right for health or not.
