Candidates and political parties are continuously protesting against the National Testing Agency regarding NEET and NET exams. The matter of NEET UG controversy is in the Supreme Court and the CBI has been given the responsibility to investigate the matter. But in the meantime, a plan has been made by UPSC, which conducts exams for recruitment to big posts in the country, to curb cheating.
According to reports, CCTVs equipped with artificial intelligence will now be used in the recruitment exams conducted by UPSC. Recently, the commission has issued a tender and invited applications. Which includes Aadhaar card based fingerprint and facial recognition, e-admit card scanning and AI-based CCTV monitoring. All these devices will be used during the examination process.
The Union Public Service Commission conducts the prestigious Civil Services Examination which selects officers for the IAS, IFS and IPS posts. Apart from this, the UPSC conducts examinations and interviews for Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ posts in the Central Government.
UPSC will use new digital technology to conduct the examinations freely and fairly. This technology will help in matching and verifying the biometric details of the candidates, which will prevent copying, fraud, unfair means and impersonation in the examination.
AI will be used
According to reports, under this initiative, Aadhaar based fingerprint authentication or their photograph will be taken to identify the candidates present in the examination centers. Also, the QR code present on their e-admit card will be scanned. Apart from this, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be used to monitor CCTV cameras installed in the examination halls. This AI will be able to detect suspicious activities and issue alerts.
Facial recognition will be done by matching the photographs taken on the day of online registration and the exam. This method will help in preventing cheating in the exam. UPSC has decided to implement CCTV/video surveillance at its examination centres across the country. This decision has been taken to keep an eye on various activities of the candidates appearing in the examination and other personnel deployed. This surveillance will be done with recording and live broadcasting systems.
