Bajwa also accused the BCCI of discriminating against Punjab and giving undue priority to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both the opening and final matches of the World Cup are going to be held in Ahmedabad’s stadium.

Bajwa said, “The BCCI should have taken more care of the sentiments of the people of Punjab. Exclusion of Mohali Cricket Stadium is a clear case of bias towards the state.

Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Tuesday condemned the non-inclusion of Mohali in the list of host cities for the World Cup.

He claimed that the selection of host cities was motivated by political reasons. He termed the non-inclusion of Mohali as the venue of the World Cup match as “open discrimination against Punjab”.
