According to Alice Vigna of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, who led the research, preliminary study results suggest that combining chemosignals with mindfulness therapy has better results in the treatment of social anxiety. The study involved collecting sweat samples from people and then exposing them to chemo signals in order to treat patients’ social anxiety. Samples were collected from people who experienced specific emotional states such as fear or happiness. Watching clips from the movies chosen to take away. Smelling sweat is beneficial for mental health
The team of researchers included 48 women facing social anxiety, whose age ranged from 15 to 35 years. Researchers made three groups of 16 people. All groups were exposed to different odors obtained from the sweat samples of people who had watched different video clips. These included a group of people who were in contact with clean air. Research revealed that women who were exposed to the smell of sweat from people watching comedy horror films had a better response. Apart from this, those who had problems were treated by exposing them to the smell, they also had anxiety scores. A decrease of about 39% was observed. The group that received the treatment had a 17% reduction in anxiety scores after one treatment session.
