Smartwatch can help people in quitting smoking – Research
A research by Bristol University has revealed that smartwatches can help people in quitting the habit of smoking. The researchers here have created a motion sensor app, which can identify the hand movements that occur while smoking a cigarette. That means this app will detect that the user is holding a cigarette in his hand. As soon as it is detected, a message will appear on the screen of the smartwatch and there will be vibration.
The message will talk about the benefits of quitting smoking
The app will show such messages to the users, in which the benefits of quitting smoking will be explained. It is written in a message that quitting smoking will make it easier for you to breathe. The second message reads, ‘Remember why you decided to quit smoking.’ The app will also tell how many cigarettes the user has smoked in a day.
There will be no need for a smartphone
To operate this app, a smartwatch is sufficient and there is no need to pair it with any phone. For its research, 18 people were included in the trial, who used to smoke 10 cigarettes a day, but were ready to give up this habit. More than 60 percent of these people said that the messages visible on the app proved helpful to them.
