Firing in Oman: There was heavy firing near a mosque in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on Monday (15 July 2024). Oman’s Foreign Minister has informed that one Indian citizen lost his life in this firing while one is injured. The total number of people killed in this firing is six, out of which four are from Pakistan.
More than 30 people injured in the firing
In a statement released online, the Royal Oman Police said that the firing took place in the Wadi Kabir area of Muscat, the capital of Oman. The police did not say what was the reason for this attack. According to official figures, more than 30 people are injured in this firing.
Four Pakistani citizens killed
Police said that three gunmen involved in the firing have been killed. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said, “At least four Pakistanis were killed in this incident. Apart from this, 30 Pakistanis are being treated in hospitals.”
Following the shooting incident reported in Muscat city on 15 July, Foreign Ministry of Sultanate of Oman has informed that one Indian national has lost his life & another is injured. Embassy offers its sincere condolences & stands ready to offer all assistance to the families.

According to an AFP report, Pakistan’s ambassador to Oman, Imran Ali, said that the mosque was mostly frequented by South Asian expatriates. He said that Oman is home to at least 400,000 Pakistanis. Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that he was deeply saddened by this terrorist attack.
The US embassy alerted its citizens
The US Embassy in Muscat has issued a security alert after the shooting. They posted on X, “US citizens should remain vigilant and monitor local news. Our citizens should follow the instructions of local authorities.”
