Birbhum. As soon as the news of gold being found on the banks of the river in Birbhum, West Bengal, there was panic among the people. In search of gold, some people were seen digging pits by hand on the river bank, while some people started searching for gold with spade. This incident is of Parakandi village. Finding gold in the river sand is unbelievable, but the local people are making such claims. Gold has been found on the banks of Bansloi river. The river remains dry for most of the year, but is in spate during the monsoons. Now there is hue and cry that gold is being found in the river.

Two days ago, a person living in Jharkhand found a gold jewel in the water of Bansloi river. This news spread fast. People living in Birbhum near Jharkhand reached there in large numbers to search for gold. Many local people also claimed to have found gold coins from this river. Parakandi village comes under Murari police station.

A local youth Sujan Shaikh told that two days ago gold was found in the sand of the river. Then there was a gathering of people here. However, none of those who have reached there have found anything so far. People are curious to know how the gold jewel got into the river. They believe that most of the ‘Maheshpur Rajbari’ was washed away in the Subarnarekha river and the gold found in the Bansloi river came from the Subarnarekha river itself.

Administration’s sleep opened two days after the incident

Two days after the news of finding gold in the river spread, the administration woke up. Block No. 1 BDO in Murari, Jagrat Chowdhary said that the police have been informed about the incident and a police constable has been posted at the river crossing to ensure that no accident takes place. No person is being allowed to go to the border. The Deputy Divisional Commissioner of Rampur Hat said that the ASI has been informed about the matter and his team size will investigate the incident.
