On India-Canada row former Diplomat KP Fabian says Sikh separatists can commit violence against Hindus

India-Canada Relations: Tension between India and Canada has increased again. The Canadian government has accused the Indian High Commissioner of involvement in the murder of Khalistani Hardeep Singh Nijjar. After this, the Indian Government has recalled its High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and other diplomats.

India also expelled six Canadian diplomats on Monday. India’s decision to recall High Commissioner Sanjay Verma and some other diplomats came shortly after Canada’s Charge d’Affaires Stewart Wheelers was summoned to the Ministry of External Affairs. In this series, former diplomat KP Fabian has given a big statement on the deteriorating relations between India and Canada.

‘India took the right step’

On the India-Canada dispute, former diplomat KP Fabian said, “Canada wants to interrogate the Indian High Commissioner and other officials. This is wrong. That is why the Indian government has taken this step. India has taken this right step.”

He further said, “I hope that after some time the relations between the two countries will improve. But as long as Justin Trudeau is the Prime Minister there, this will not happen. Elections are to be held there next year and there is great hope for this.” It is unlikely that Justin Trudeau will win. His popularity is also decreasing. I feel that in the future Canada will accuse India more aggressively.

‘Relations can improve only after elections’

On the question of when will India-Canada relations improve, he said that as long as Justin Trudeau’s government is there, I am finding it difficult. Relations may improve after elections are held there and a new government is formed.

Khalistani can attack temples

He said, “Amidst the bad relations with India, Khalistani people can commit violence against Hindus. They can target people. Apart from this, they can target temples.”
