All over the world, whatever be the occasion, people celebrate it with alcohol. If we talk about the New Year, record breaking sales of liquor have been done so far in the month of December. A total of four and a half crore liquor bottles have been sold so far in the month of December. These figures are till December 29, a further significant increase may be seen within two days.
4.5 crore liquor bottles sold in December
Be it any happy occasion or sad occasion, people resort to alcohol. And on the special occasion of New Year, people drink a lot of alcohol. Both men and women do not lag behind in this matter. There is a huge crowd at liquor shops and wine shops on New Year. That’s why people make their arrangements in advance. If we talk about the sale of liquor in Delhi so far in the month of December, it has broken all the records of last year. Last year in the month of December where 3,99,60509 liquor bottles were purchased. So till 29th of December this year, about 4.5 crore liquor bottles have been purchased. In this, the maximum sale of liquor was on 24 December. In which approximately 19 lakh 40 thousand liquor bottles were purchased.
Excise department took action
On the occasion of New Year, people are buying a lot of liquor in Delhi. At the same time, there is a lot of smuggling of liquor being done illegally. Meanwhile, the Excise Department has seized 1700 liters of illegal liquor. Eight vehicles were also caught while smuggling. Delhi Police and Excise Department have together formed 10 teams. Which will patrol the border to prevent smuggling in other states.
