‘Operation Romeo’ Film Review: It is not known what has been tried to say through the film

‘Operation Romeo’ Movie Review: The recently released film ‘Operation Romeo’ on Netflix is like an unsolvable puzzle. Unexpected because the story of the film takes place in Mumbai and due to lack of space in Mumbai, the loving couple often keep searching for such places which give them some peace and some solitude. No one bothers loving couples in Mumbai. The police also treat them very politely and politely and even if the police have to drive them away, they tell them to leave in clear words and the couple also obeys the police and go away and go to some other place. Let’s find out.

Nothing like this happens in Operation Romeo. A man from Mumbai is sitting in his car with his girlfriend in the parking lot of a hospital, policemen come and harass him and extort money. This does not happen in Mumbai. That’s why Operation Romeo, which is a remake of a Malayalam film ‘Ishq’, becomes incomprehensible.

Aditya Sharma (Siddhant Gupta) goes on a drive from Andheri to South Mumbai area of Mumbai to celebrate his girlfriend Neha’s (Vedika Pinto) birthday. When they park their car in the parking lot of a hospital, they are about to kiss when two men named Mangesh Jadhav (Sharad Kelkar) and Patil (Kishore Kadam) come there, who videotape them and then start threatening them. . It is night time, Aditya and Neha get nervous and taking advantage of this, Mangesh and Patil extort money from them.

While Aditya is withdrawing money from the ATM, Mangesh enters inside the car and starts misbehaving with Neha. Somehow the matter gets resolved by giving money and Aditya goes to drop Neha at her hostel in his car where Neha insults him. The conversation between the two stops and Aditya does not even pick up Neha’s phone. A few days later, when Aditya goes to the parking lot of the same hospital again, he learns that Mangesh is not a policeman but an ambulance driver and Patil is a tailor.

Aditya reaches Mangesh’s house and does the same thing with his wife and daughter, which infuriates Mangesh and a fight ensues between the two, but Aditya beats him up and puts his reality in front of his wife. Aditya leaves from there and goes out for a walk with Neha, where Patil is locked in his trunk. Patil apologizes to Neha. Aditya starts proposing Neha but Neha refuses him.

Out of strange things, it is impossible for such an incident to happen in Mumbai. This is the first thing. Policemen harass someone there without any reason, such stories do not happen now. The unexplainable puzzle was that usually any boy can take a long drive to propose his girlfriend, but for that he cannot choose an empty parking lot of the hospital. Generally this work is done in a restaurant or some romantic place. Neha is from Rajasthan and her family is very traditional and they are worried about their girl child.

Neha likes the freedom of Mumbai but does not understand why she gets ready to kiss in the car. Aditya’s sister is getting married and amidst all this how does he remember to propose his girlfriend? Sharad Kelkar pretends to be a policeman and threatens Aditya and Aditya gets scared too. The contractors of culture or the Moral Police are never seen behaving like this in Mumbai. In Mumbai, everyone has a habit of asking the police the opposite questions. Every Mumbai resident knows enough Marathi that he can settle the matter.

It would have been better if this story had happened in some other city. How does Aditya pick up Kishore Kadam from the tailor’s shop and put it in the trunk of his car? When Aditya goes to Sharad Kelkar’s house, how does his wife allow him to come inside the house. This also does not happen in Mumbai.

Operation Romeo looks like a dud with many unanswered questions. Sharad Kelkar and Kishore Kadam are expert players of the game and their performances are excellent. Siddhant Gupta’s face does not have more than two-three expressions. It seems strange even when Mangesh is behaving like a savage villain in the house. Bhumika Chawla’s character has been wasted. Vedika is beautiful, not expected to have a very long career. The film also has three songs written by Manoj Muntashir and composed by MM Cream, which even if they feature in the film, it doesn’t matter as long as the songs are good.

Shashant Shah, director of best films like Dasvidaniya and Chalo Dilli, has directed this film. His biggest mistake was to settle the film in Mumbai. The film raises a good issue. Viewers also remain in tension for a long time as to what Sharad and Kishore will do with Siddhant and Vedika and whether Sharad misbehaved with Vedika, but when Siddhant comes back to Vedika with revenge, Vedika proposes him. Rejecting did not digest a bit. The film can be kept in the time pass category only.
