Even after losing his life, 59 year old Roopchandra Singh gave life to five people. His organ was donated in AIIMS with the consent of his son. In fact, on April 30, Roopchandra was going on a bike with his son. He suffered a serious head injury in a road accident near Shadipur at around 11 am. He was immediately brought to the trauma center of AIIMS for treatment. Kept fighting with life and death here for two days. But he lost his life at 1.30 am on 2nd May.
The doctors declared him brain death. After losing his father, Nagendra agreed for organ donation. He was given counseling by the AIIMS team. According to information received from AIIMS, Notto allocated the organs after organ donation. Lungs from Roopchandra Singh were transplanted into a 30-year-old male at AIIMS. This is the first lung transplant of this year in AIIMS. Right there, it’s the third one so far. The heart was transplanted into a 65-year-old patient at Apollo Hospitals. One kidney was transplanted at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and the other kidney was transplanted into a patient at AIIMS, while the liver was transplanted into a 31-year-old patient at Army Hospital. Both his corneas were kept safe in AIIMS. Due to which two people will be able to get eyesight later. This is the 17th organ donation of this year in Delhi.
Green corridor created
A green corridor was created to bring the heart from AIIMS Trauma Center to Apollo Hospital. With its help, the heart reached the hospital in just 12 minutes. Apollo Hospital’s Managing Director P Siva Kumar said that the donated heart was brought to the hospital in just 12 minutes. At the same time, green corridor was also made for Army and RML Hospital.
