Oscars 2025: The impact of the massive fire in Southern California is also being seen on the entertainment industry. Due to the fire, the Oscar nomination voting deadline has been extended by two days.
According to Variety’s report, voting for approximately 10,000 Academy members began on January 8, and was scheduled to end on January 12. Now the deadline is January 14. The nominations were scheduled to be announced on January 17, which will now take place on January 19.

According to ‘Variety’, the Oscar ceremony will be held on March 2, 2025. Conan O’Brien will host the ceremony. The Academy sent an email to members on Wednesday afternoon from CEO Bill Kramer informing them about the change in date.

The email read, “We express our deepest condolences to the people affected by the massive fire in Southern California. Many of our members and industry associates live and work in the Los Angeles area. The international feature shortlist screening, scheduled for Wednesday night in Los Angeles, has been postponed until the weekend. The Los Angeles Sound Branch Bake-Off and the Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch Bake-Off, scheduled for January 11 in Los Angeles and New York City, have been canceled.
Many Los Angeles-area premieres and events have been canceled or postponed amid the massive fires. Amazon, MGM Studios and Universal Studios were the first to cancel their Tuesday night premieres of ‘Unstoppable’ and ‘The Wolf Man.’ Paramount and Max then canceled their Wednesday premieres of ‘Better Man’ and ‘The Pit’.

The names of these films include ‘Kanguva’ (Tamil), ‘Aadujeevitham’ (The Goat Life) (Hindi), ‘Santosh’ (Hindi), ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ (Hindi), ‘All We’.
