Whereas UK’s Hindi film ‘Santosh’ has got a place in the Oscar shortlist. This film has not been released in India yet. UK Hindi film ‘Santosh’, featuring the strong acting of Shahana Goswami and Sunita Rajwar, is in the news after being shortlisted for Oscar 2025. People are now waiting for its release in India. Finally the makers have announced the release date of the film in India. According to a press note, Shahana Goswami-starrer ‘Santosh’ will be released in theaters in the country next year i.e. on January 10, 2025.

In which category has ‘Santosh’ got a place in Oscar?
Let us tell you that the Hindi language international co-production Santosh, set in rural North India, has got a place in Oscar 2025 in the ‘Best International Feature Film’ category. In this category, out of total 85 films submitted by countries around the world, a total of 15 films have been selected for the Oscar shortlist.

The film was sent by the United Kingdom as their official submission for the Academy Awards 2025. The film also premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in May 2024 and was well received by critics.

What is the story of ‘Santosh’?
Directed by Sandhya Suri, the film stars Shahana as a young Hindu widow who inherits her husband’s job as a police constable thanks to a government scheme. According to The Hollywood Reporter, despite working with veteran detective Inspector Sharma (Sunita Rajwar) on a brutal murder case involving a teenage girl from the lower caste Dalit community, she finds herself embroiled in institutional corruption. This film is an international co-production of United Kingdom, India, Germany and France.
