95th Academy Awards: Only a few hours are left for the Oscar Awards to be announced. From India, RRR, All That Breathe and The Elephant Whispers Show are in the fray as strong contenders. RRR’s Natu-Natu song has been nominated for Oscar 2023 in the Original Song category. At the same time, All That Breathe has been nominated in the Documentary Feature Film category. Apart from this, The Elephant Whispers has received a nomination in the Best Documentary Short Film category. You would be surprised to know that many such Indian films were left out of making it to the final list of nominations, which could have definitely created a buzz. We are telling you about four of these most special films.
Gargi
Gargi, released in 2022, is the best legal drama film, which takes such a spectacular turn in the last moments that the audience is glued to their chair. The story of a woman’s struggle has been shown in this film, which Sai Pallavi presented in a brilliant way through her performance.
Swarm
The squeeze of the three Indian films Lagaan, Salaam Bombay and Slumdog Millionaire that made a splash at the Oscars is seen in the herd. Nagraj Manjule presented this film in the best way. This film can be called the best tribute to the history of Hindi cinema. If Jhund were selected for the Oscars, which Indian would not yearn to see Amitabh Bachchan collect the award.
Pada
Talking about the Malayalam film industry, it is considered completely isolated from the mainstream. Perhaps this is the reason that this area of the film industry is the most creative. Here the aim of the filmmakers is not just to earn from the film, due to which they work more on the subjects. Paada is the pinnacle of contemporary Indian filmmaking. Its basic theme is very emotional.
tune
This film of just 50 minutes made in Maithili language is emotionally very good. This play by Achal Mishra gives a feel of the herds of colonialism due to its mesmerizing silence and static camerawork. The anger and despair that most of the people of our country feel has been shown very well in this film. Like last year’s best Indian film, The Disciple, this is a great example of how ambitious and stylistically outspoken some of the country’s young filmmakers are.
