OYO new rules for unmarried couples Will couples not Book OYO rooms even in cities like Delhi-NCR

If you live in a metro city like Delhi-NCR and are thinking of booking an OYO room, then this news is for you. Actually, the leading travel and hotel booking platform OYO has changed its rules. Now OYO will not provide rooms to unmarried couples through its platform. However, this rule has been started only in Meerut city of Uttar Pradesh. OYO plans to introduce this rule in other cities based on feedback.

OYO has forbidden its hotel operators in Meerut from giving rooms to unmarried couples. Even if they have booked the room online. According to the new rules, couples booking rooms in Meerut through any means, online or offline, will have to show marriage certificate, only after which they will be able to get the room.

What for Delhi-NCR people?

This rule has not yet been implemented for couples living in cities other than Delhi-NCR. That means right now this rule is limited to Meerut only. However, OYO plans to implement it based on the feedback coming from other cities. This means that if OYO implements these rules in other cities also, it may create problems for unmarried couples. Actually, under the new rule only married couples will be given rooms.

Will solo travelers and other people also have to show the certificate?

OYO has currently started its rule only in cities like Meerut. It is worth noting here that this rule is only for married and unmarried couples. There has been no change in the rules for students, solo travelers, families, religious tourists or business tourism tourists booking rooms under OYO.

Why did the company change the rules?

The big question is why OYO changed its rules? In fact, OYO had received requests from many citizen groups, especially in Meerut, to take action in this matter. Many social organizations had appealed to OYO not to allow unmarried couples to check-in. Apart from this, petitions have been filed in some other cities also regarding this matter.
