P Jayaraj was born on 28 September 1909 in Karimnagar, Telangana. He started working with Dadasaheb Phalke in Mook. His first film as an adult was Cling Youth in 1929. After this, he worked as an actor till 1960 but later he did films as a director and producer till 1998.
P. Jayaraj did 300 films in the film industry in about 70 years. Out of these 300 films, he worked as a lead actor in about 160 films. His name is registered in the Guinness Book for working in the most number of films and longest period in Bollywood. This record still stands today, which no actor has been able to break till now.
Honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Award
P Jayaraj was an excellent actor who left the world in the year 2000. In the year 1980, P Jayaraj was also honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. P Jayaraj did about 11 silent films. Apart from this, he played legendary characters like Amar Singh Rathore, Prithvi Raj Chauhan and Maharana Pratap. He was greatly liked in the roles of Shahjahan and Tipu Sultan.
