Padma Award 2024: On Thursday, the Central Government announced the very prestigious Padma Award. Veteran Hindi cinema actress Vyjayanti Mala and South superstar Chiranjeevi will be honored with the Padma Vibhushan award. Whereas late Vijaykant and Bollywood actors Mithun Chakraborty and Usha Uthup will be honored with Padma Bhushan. After being nominated for Padma Bhushan, Mithun Chakraborty spoke to ABP News and expressed his happiness on receiving this honour.
What did Mithun Chakraborty say on receiving the Padma Bhushan award?
Talking to ABP News, Mithun Chakraborty said, “There is a lot of happiness, a lot of joy, there is a feeling which I cannot explain. After a lot of troubles, when one gets such a big honor, then the happiness is something else. I thank everyone.” I want to say thank you for giving me so much respect. Mithun further said that I am dedicating this honor to my fans in the country and the whole world who have given me selfless love. Thank you for giving me so much love and respect.”
Gemini Chakraborty had a brilliant career in the film industry.
Mithun has had a wonderful journey in the film industry. Mithun started his acting career with the Bengali film ‘Mrigaya’. This film, directed by Mrinal Sen, was released in 1976 and Mithun received a lot of praise for his role. Even in his very first film, Mithun was honored with the Best Actor Award at the 24th National Awards.
Mithun also did many great films in Bollywood.
In the same year, he debuted in Bollywood with Do Anjaane. This film directed by Dulal Guha opened the doors of his Bollywood career. After this, Mithun gave many memorable performances. These include many great Hindi films like Disco Dancer, Pyaar Jhukta Nahin, Phool Aur Angar, Dalal, Prem Pratigya, Jung and Chandaal.
Agneepath is also included in Mithun’s most memorable performance. He won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Filmfare Awards that year. In 1992, he received his second National Award for Best Actor for his performance in Tahadher Katha.
Tried his hand in politics also
Mithun, who was very successful in his film career, also tried his hand in politics. He joined politics in the early 2010s. He became a Member of Parliament in 2014. Today he is an active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
