Nawaz Sharif said that we do not have majority. In such a situation, we will talk with other political parties about forming the government. I have asked Shehbaz Sharif to meet Asif Zardari, Maulana Fazal ur Rehman and MQM leaders to form the government.
What has been the result?
According to news agency PTI, the results of 139 National Assembly seats in Pakistan have been declared so far, out of which independent candidates supported by former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party PTI have won 55 seats. PML-N has won 43, PPP 35 and other small parties have won.
The main contest in the elections in Pakistan is between Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
How many seats are needed?
To form a new government in the country, any party will have to win 133 out of 265 seats in the National Assembly. The election on one seat was postponed after the death of a candidate. To achieve majority, 169 seats out of 336 are required, which also includes seats reserved for women and minorities.
