General elections are to be held in India’s neighboring country Pakistan on 8 February. This election will decide who will be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. However, the process of general elections in Pakistan is almost similar to that of India. Today we will tell you how many seats will be elected in Pakistan and how many seats are required to become the Prime Minister.
Elections are held on how many seats in Pakistan?
Like India, elections are also held in Pakistan. Just as the Rajya Sabha is elected in India, similarly in Pakistan, members of the assemblies of different states elect the Pakistani Senate. Whereas in the lower house, members are elected through general elections. Let us tell you that there are a total of 342 seats in Pakistan, out of which 272 seats are directly elected, while 70 members are specially selected. Of these, 60 seats are already reserved for women, while 10 seats are reserved for the traditional and religious minority communities of the country. However, their election is done under the proportional representation rule. This means that the party which wins more seats, has more members nominated.
How many seats are needed to become PM?
The public will vote for the National Assembly in the elections to be held on 8 February. In this, 272 MPs of the National Assembly of Pakistan will be elected. After the election results are declared, whichever party or coalition has the majority, becomes the Prime Minister of that party.

EVM machines are not used in Pakistan elections. There voting is done through ballot paper. According to the information, 26 crore ballot papers have been printed for the elections to be held on February 8. Whose total weight is about 2100 tons. These include former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif’s party Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz, former PM Imran Khan ’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Bilawal Bhutto’s Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
