Suparco: After the historic success of India’s Chandrayaan-3 last year, Pakistan has also launched its own Moon mission with the help of China. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s IQUB-Qamar has sent the first picture from the moon’s orbit. Pakistan has launched its Moon mission in collaboration with its ally China.
The lunar module was designed by the Institute of Space Technology (IST) in Islamabad in collaboration with China’s Shanghai University (SJTU) and Pakistan’s national space agency Suparco. This satellite was launched from Hainan province on May 3 and successfully entered the lunar orbit at 1:14 pm on May 8. The Moon is at an average distance of 384,400 km from the Earth.

Will capture images of the Moon and send them back to Earth – Dr. Khurshid
This satellite, which works in temperatures as low as minus 100 degrees Celsius, has a camera weighing 7 kg, which has been designed for missions with power shortage. Meanwhile, Dr. Khurshid had said that the satellite will play an important role in deep space missions. He said its surface-level capabilities, transmitting images at a modest 1-kbps, will provide important data on crater locations, water and ice traces on the lunar surface.
As the Chinese lander collects rock and soil samples, Icube-Qamar will spend 3 to 6 months orbiting the Moon, capturing images of the Moon and sending them back to Earth.
