Passenger Planes: Why do passenger planes fly only at a height of 12 kilometers from the ground, what is the science behind it?

Today, to save time, most people prefer to travel by flight. Because with this, long distance journeys can be completed in less time. But do you know at what height above the earth the flight in which you travel flies? After all, why does a flight fly only at a fixed altitude, what is the reason behind it?

How many flights every day

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, more than 6000 flights fly in the sky every day in India. Which includes 3061 departure flights and 3058 arrival flights. This includes both domestic and international flights. Last year, an average of 2,891 flights were present in the sky every day in India.

How many flights every day in the world?

42,000 flights every day in America. Take off, with 5,000 planes in the sky at any given time. According to a report, about 100,000 flights take off and land every day around the world, which include passenger, cargo and military aircraft. In passenger flights alone, there are more than 90,000 flights per day.

At what height the aircraft

Let us tell you that the aircraft usually flies at a height of 31,000 (9.44 km). Fly at an altitude of 42,000 (12.80 km) feet. The main reasons for flying at such altitudes are to maximize fuel efficiency, reduce air resistance, and avoid air traffic. Apart from this, safety also has to be ensured while flying in the air.

Reasons for flying at high altitude

You must have felt while traveling in flight that While taking off, the aircraft takes off after gaining altitude. Because air density is lower at higher altitudes, resulting in less air resistance, planes can fly faster while burning less fuel. Apart from this, flying at higher altitudes helps in avoiding collisions with birds, reducing turbulence and giving passengers a more comfortable flying experience.

Let us tell you that with larger jets when the aircraft takes off from the airports. When they fly, their first task is to quickly come above the clouds and reach as high a height as possible. Commercial aircraft typically fly between 31,000 feet (9.4 km) and 38,000 feet (11.5 km). Planes usually take 10 minutes to cover about 5.9 to 7.2 miles. According to the information, planes can fly much higher than this height, but this can cause safety problems. Because flying higher means it will take longer to return to a safe altitude in an emergency such as rapid disintegration.

Helicopter altitude

< p>Helicopters are primarily designed to fly short distances. They fly much lower than aeroplanes. Usually fly below 10,000 feet. Let us tell you that helicopters fly with rotating blades instead of wings.
