Rapid changes at the global level and technological development have brought about dramatic changes in Indian society. India has crossed many boundaries in the fields of economics, technology, security etc., but alienation from Indian culture and tradition and decline in values has also been seen. Patanjali University was conceived to remove this devaluation.
Patanjali University is a private research university, with its campus in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. It was established in 2006 after the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly passed the Patanjali University Act, 2006. Its founders are Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna. The main objective of establishing this university is to create capable youth power to develop India as a prosperous self-reliant nation. This is possible only when the personality of the youth is based on yoga and along with strength in all dimensions, a strong character and personality is developed.
Today’s education has become largely job-oriented, aimed at creating a self-centered, job-seeking, livelihood-oriented individual rather than at honing the student’s true potential. At the same time, the objective of Patanjali University is to develop leadership qualities among the youth in every sphere of life and society. Keeping this in mind, the aim of all the educational activities of Patanjali University is to educate such youth who can provide a new direction to the nation and also lead the entire humanity on the global level.
