Actually, there are more than three thousand houses in Nehru Vihar. More than 10 thousand people live here. Women of the area said that security is the biggest issue for them. Street lighting is poor at many places at night. Due to this, one becomes afraid of going anywhere at night. He says that students from different states come here to study, but there is nothing in the name of facilities. On the other hand, elders and youth said that the condition of the park is worse. Due to this he is not able to walk. Whereas the youth have had to stay away from sports activities. People told that they are tired of making rounds from Delhi Municipal Corporation to Public Works Department regarding this matter. There is no one to solve their problems.

Rajeev Sehgal, general secretary of All Nehru Vihar RWA, said, ‘I have been living here since 1984, but no one has been paying attention to the condition of this area for the last 10-12 years. Many times rickshaws and two-wheelers overturn due to broken roads. Due to this they have to get injured. Our only request to the government and administration is that the problems here should be resolved.

The head of All Nehru Vihar RWA said, ‘I have been here for forty years. The drains are not being cleaned. The roads have become dilapidated due to rain. When children go to school, they have to face difficulties in commuting. Went to everyone with my problems, but hearing is not taking place.

Head of D-Block Nehru Vihar RWA said, ‘Students come here from different states to study. These people go ahead and become officers, but when they do not get any facilities then how will they study properly. There are so many potholes on the roads that one feels scared that some unpleasant incident might happen. The streets and roads here should be repaired soon.

Sachin Mavi, who lives in Nehru Vihar, said, earlier there used to be a bus stand here, buses used to come. But since the roads have become dilapidated, no buses come here. Due to this, people have to walk for many kilometers. Went to everyone from MLA to councilor, but no one is there to listen to the problems.

Pooja, who lives in Nehru Vihar, said, ‘The trunks of the trees have reached the houses. But, no one is cutting them. There is nothing here for women’s safety. There is fear in the mind all the time. The police should do something for security here. At the same time, Rekha said, ‘Those living in Nehru Vihar are sewer overflows. The streets are filling with drain water. But, there is no one to see. Due to this water borne diseases are spreading. Do household work or raise your voice to solve public problems. Women’s safety is also a big question here. Antisocial elements are openly prevalent in the parks. Due to this, women shy away from going to the park.
